ANDY MURRAY lost one
set on the way to the second round at Wimbledon
yesterday. The tournament second favourite, at
around 5/2 in the betting, was expected to sweep
past Robert Kendrick but had to survive a
serious scare. Murray had destroyed Kendrick 6-0, 6-0 when he had played him once before. However Murray was reminded that there are no easy matches at Wimbledon as the American raised his game to come within a hair's breadth of taking a two set advantage. After Kendrick took the first set 7-5, Murray fought back in a tie break to tie the match one set all to win the second set an agonising tight 7-6. After this scare normal order was resumed and Murray was able to cruise to victory. Murray now meets Ernest Gulbis in round two of Wimbledon.
